I got some good last-minute tips from my friend Darcy Hansen, which included spreading out a tarp of some kind (I used a shower curtain) on the floor and staying there for playtime for a few days. We watched a LOT of movies, played ipad, trains, puzzles, and Blokus. That really helped ME because I hate cleaning up accidents, so it seemed a lot easier than when we tried doing potty training last September and failed. I think it was also easier this time since he is a little older and we can communicate a lot better. We encouraged him to drink as many capri suns as he wanted so we could get lots of practice in. We used a Thomas the Train sticker chart (compliments of Google images) and earned a $1 toy each time we finished a row (bouncy balls, whistles, bubbles, and foam stickers, etc). When he completed the WHOLE chart he earned a Thomas the Train movie! After a while he wasn't even that interested in doing the sticker chart because he was just so proud of himself that he could use the potty!
This was one of the three goals we had for Mason when we moved to KC to be completed hopefully before he turned three--the other two were sleeping (and staying) in a toddler bed, and ditching the binky. We broke the binky habit while on Thanksgiving vacation (because the easiest time to break a habit is while on vacation) which our families were very patient with, and he has been sleeping really well in his bed.
Good job Mason! We love you!
