Happy Birthday Mason!

When did my baby Mason get so big?  I am so lucky to be his mom.  Last night after I tucked him in to bed he called me back to the room and we just talked about the day.  About the weather outside (cloudy), going to a friend's house (cookies!), playing with the ipad (broken--batteries went dead), watching "Up" (sad . . .) and playing with all his new birthday presents.  He is learning how to communicate a lot better and it is so amazing to see him be able to understand and express feelings/needs.
Here is the house decorated Thomas-the-Train style, preparing for party guests . . . We had trains and decorations in the living room and kitchen.  I tried spreading out all the company but I am still afraid we felt like sardines in our tiny place :)

All the kids got glo-sticks, party hats and whistles.  Some were very adept with the whistles.

We also watched Thomas the Train movies.  A sure hit.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

 We ate heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast . . .

And cooked a live lobster for a special dinner!

Here is a good shot of our good fellow, Larry the Lobster, during his last live swim.

Here is Kate trying to go swimming with him.

SNOW DAY!
The huge storm hit us yesterday and Mason has just loved playing in the snow.  Can you tell? :)  Thank goodness David didn't have to drive to work yesterday and today they cancelled all morning appointments at the office so we got to play outside again.

Valentine's Day 2013

As I’m sure you’ve noticed our blog is mainly updated by Heather.  I’ve never been much for blogging and she does such an incredible job at it that I let her take care of it.

But today is a little different.  Because of timing we are celebrating Valentine’s Day a little early this year, and as part of our celebration I wanted to post a few things about Heather.

We’ve been married for over five years now, and it seems like we have already done so much together.  We’ve moved across the country together, gone through grad school together, had children, served in several different wards and church callings, and gone through challenges together.  As much as I loved her the day we got married, I love her that much more today.  I am so fortunate to have such an amazing person as my spouse.  She is my superior in many ways.  Her love for life and family are so contagious it’s hard not to be happy when living with someone like her.  She constantly builds the people she is around, including me and the children.  It seems to be an innate part of her nature to care about others and have the “pure love of Christ.”

I think the greatest compliment I can give her is that I’m a much better person today than I was five years ago just by having been with her.

Heather, I love you more than life itself.

Happy Valentine’s Day
