One-Year Anniversary!

This year has been the best of my life. I am so happy married to Dave--I often think how lucky I am to have married such a great guy. For our anniversary, we went to Cedar City and spent a few nights with my Grandma "D" Rassmussen and her husband Jim. We drove to St. George (which was really fun, because it was where we went for our Honeymoon last year) and hiked in Snow Canyon. Here follows some highlights:
A cool lava cave we saw from afar and ventured to explore.
You can't tell, but I'm on the top of a huge mountain/hill.

I loved all the rock formations we saw.
Beautiful day. We got really warm and actually had to look for some shade.
This trail was called "three ponds." This part was actually a little chilly. We had to hike through a lot of sand and got worn out, but the ponds were worth it. Below is the first pond, and if you hike through the crevasse in the rock to the right, you go through a pretty trail to find some more ponds. Probably my favorite hike.
We stayed with Dave's friends, Ryan and Dave Kelly, in St. George and had a great time with them, eating at In & Out, watching the Utah Utes beat Alabama :), longboarding, and just enjoying their company. Thanks, Kellys!

Happy New Year!

For New Years Eve, Dave and I had a few friends over to our house--we didn't take a picture until a little after midnight, so by this time, Neil and Sara Voss had left, but here we have the Yates, the Becksteads, Camille, and the Blacks. Entertainment included watching the countdown on TV, playing Disney SceneIt and a few other games, lighting off fireworks at midnight, and celebrating Morian's bday (January 1st)

Merry Christmas!

So after I started making this blog I realized I have practically NO pictures of Christmas with Dave and me. I think it was because we depended on everyone else taking pictures that day, so those of you who have family pictures, send them our way.

After I was done with finals at BYU (my last finals ever!), Dave and I drove up to Idaho for a few days to spend with the Harpers.
Here is Dave and me opening some of our early presents in ID--we look terrible . . .
And here are some pictures I have because my mom sent them
In this picture, my brothers and I are eating chocolate covered bananas--Dave and I made them in honor of the 3 cent chocobananas in Honduras. On this particular night, everyone in my family made some sort of international dish for a smorgasbord of taste.
These pictures are us playing bball with the Harpers. Dave has really liked playing basketball with intramurals with his dental friends this past semester and every once in a while with friends.

After Idaho, we came to Utah for Christmas Eve and Christmas. We played some volleyball, basketball, lots of games, and Xbox. The best was just being able to spend time with everybody.
We made a HUGE snowman at the Yates' house, thanks to the blizzards we had almost every single day. The wind and sun made the snowman start doing the limbo, and finally his head rolled off and now he is just a pile of snow.

Holiday Decor, in case you were curious

For Christmas this year, I started looking through Grandpa's basement to see what decorations he had. Jackpot! Here follows some of my favorite finds:
I LOVE nutcrackers. They look so sharp in their colorful uniforms and even though I know most nutcrackers' aren't meant to actually crack walnuts, I always like to open and close the jaw. Grandpa had several very good dolls, and they were some of the first things I put up. Dave's mom actually gave us a nutcracker this year, and I'm excited to put it up next Christmas!
You can also see a Santa Clause in this picture. I found a LOT of Santas. More pictures of them to come.
I was going to put up my nativity set that I got in Bethlehem last summer, but it was in Idaho when I was decorating and I found this white one in the basement and put it up instead. Grandpa made the reindeer on the sides, and he was excited to see them.Oh Christmas Tree! Grandpa kept telling Dave and me that he might have a Christmas tree in his garage. We found it in a huge cardboard box and pulled it down. I think the tree is a few decades old, as are the ornaments--I found the ornaments and skirt in the basement, as well as the lights, but everything still worked and the tree turned out really pretty. I liked that it was so old.
And here are two more Santas! There are at least two or three other Santas that I didn't include on the blog, but these ones were special. You could plug them in and they would move and light up.
